Very common in central Europe for many years already is the direct use of rape / canola seed oil for use as biofuel in modified engines. It can be generated by mechanical pressing of rape seed. A further modified end product is rape methyl ester which is the result of an esterification process using an alcohol to blend the raw rape oil. The end product is known as biodiesel.
