Contaminated soil is useless and a source of groundwater contamination as well as it
may be a health hazard.
Decontaminated soil is a resource. If biologically decontaminated and not chemically
washed or thermally burned (and therefore "dead") it can still/again offer the following
- Raw material for construction industry
- Farmland for agricultural production
- Building site or space for dwellings, industry, traffic etc.
- Conservation area or nature reserve for ecological purposes
Only biologically decontaminated soil offers maximal utilisation options.
