Green House Gas (GHG) Emitting Matter

Naturally occurring gases create a protective layer around the earth - our atmosphere, which ensures a balanced climate. So called green house gases ("GHG") like carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O) and others, all excessively emitted by man made activities in the last decades, damage the atmosphere and by this disturb our climate causing so called global warming. To prevent global warming mankind has agreed to an international treaty, the Kyoto Protocol, which limits future GHG emissions.

Amongst others methane is also generated from disposing waste at unmanaged landfills. One ton of waste can generate up to 0.07 t CH4 with a climate harming potential equalling 1.4 t CO2. As the world is producing several million tons of waste per day it is essential for climate protection to treat waste prior to landfilling to avoid creation of methane from landfills.

Biological stabilisation of waste by COMP-ANY changes municipal solid waste characteristics in a way that later disposal does no longer create any methane emissions. Modern waste management therefore is a contribution to climate protection!
